Royale Kendal Mint Cake 3kg
£17.99
According to legend, a chance accident happened when a confectioner, intending to make glacier mints, took his eye off the pan and found the mixture had started to ‘grain’ and become cloudy. The Kendal Mint Cake was mainly sold to the locals and sent via Kendal’s Railway Station, once a week, to other parts in the North East of England. The potential of Kendal Mint Cake as an energy supplier was recognised when used on the 1914-1917 Transarctic Expedition under the command of Sir E Shackleton and the 1st Everest Expedition. This happening naturally increased sales of mint cake to hikers and climbers and visitors to the Lake District. Available under the Royale brand and made in the traditional way, this is still today a very popular and saleable item.
